Marketing Communications Manager

What You’ll Do
- Develop and execute integrated communications strategies aligned with business goals.
- Lead MRPR planning for brand and category-level messaging to build trust and engagement.
- Manage PR agency relationships and optimize scope of work for maximum ROI.
- Oversee major marketing-led events including our Annual Partnership Conference, Store Grand Openings, Media/influencer events.
- Support crisis communications and digital content monitoring for issues management.
- Train and Coach internal spokespeople in media relations.
- Oversee brand sponsorships and identify new opportunities.
- Monitor media and social channels to protect and enhance brand reputation.
- Lead media monitoring and reporting, identifying risks and opportunities proactively.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to team members, ensuring performance and development goals are met.

- Strong writing and editing for all forms of content, including short and long form.
- Strong project management and budgeting capabilities.

- Proven ability to build relationships with media, government, vendors, and agencies.

- Skilled in building consensus while driving team performance, and leading through influence.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, Communications, or equivalent experience.
- Prior Communications management in the retail industry an asset.
- Experienced in managing the full cycle of publication development—from independent research and stakeholder interviews to content presentation and collaboration with authors, designers, and marketing teams.
- Experience producing large scale events including stage development with an in-depth knowledge of current technology, local unions and related roles and procedures.
- Creative thinker with previous experience in writing, editing and proofreading, as well as interviewing subject matter experts and members of the public in order to develop compelling stories.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and media/social media monitoring tools (e.g., Meltwater).
- Portfolio of writing and project samples demonstrating strategic impact.
This position is primarily office-based, with the potential to work remotely for 2 out of every 10 working days.
