TECH Retail Merchandising Manager
The TECH Retail Merchandising Manager is responsible for developing sales through the presentation and merchandising of the TECH area. As a merchant leader, they must have a good understanding of the categories that make up the TECH business. They will use this understanding combined with their passion for the physical experience and presentation to enhance the shopping experience for our customers. As a leader and coach, they are responsible for supporting the financial objectives for all areas of the TECH business including Photo Electronics (includes the Photo Counter), Computer, TECH Services and Audio Video Systems departments.
They will ensure the daily effective and economical operation of the entire TECH area for their assigned store. As the merchandising leader they will develop an effective merchandising strategy to support the sales team with the Photo Electronics, Photo Counter, Photo Lab, Computer, TECH Services and AVS departments. They are empowered to act on opportunities that are specific to their business in the neighborhood and communicate these opportunities to their Stores, District and Business Unit management.
EDUCATION & KNOWLEDGE:
- Strong understanding of the TECH Department’s operational software and support systems
- Knowledge of desktop PCs and Windows-based operating systems.
- A thorough understanding of all TECH products and services of the Photo Electronics, photofinishing, Audio Video Systems and Computer categories
- A good working knowledge of the corporate provided Franklin covey workshops such as The 7 Habits for managers and Leadership: Great Leaders, Great Teams, Great results.
- Strong working knowledge of all aspects of merchandising.
- Update current technical knowledge by attending seminars, product sessions or other methods that will help improve general skills and expertise.
- Will take necessary management and technical training as required.
DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, & TASKS:
- Perform all the tasks also required of the various TECH Advisors and TECH Specialists.
- Maintain the professional image of the department and company.
- Order adequate inventory to meet the TECH areas and customer requirements, while maintaining inventory control.
- Monitor and control the financial aspect of his/her area to ensure maximum profitability.
- Set production/sales goals for the TECH Department team and hold them accountable to maximize sales events and productivity.
- Understand Company policy regarding the usage of Internet access and e-mail usage.
- Promote London Drugs in the community as a place to shop and a place to work.
- Ensure quality and service levels are maintained to Company standards.
- Organize regular meeting with the TECH Sales Managers and TECH Services Managers and Senior Store management to ensure effective communication and drive sales.
- Keep up to date on new products, services and information relating to all relevant industry technologies but not limited to key areas such as Camera. Mobile Phones, PC/Laptops//Tablets and Television.
- Manage all sales areas of the TECH departments to be presentable, merchandised with correct signing, and ensure plan-o-gram specifications and other general standards are met.
- Work closely within the Store to ensure all Company promotional events are supported to the fullest.
- Be aware of Benchmark inventory targets and work to achieving them through close cooperation with the Store Manager.
- Manage the control inventory levels to assigned core stock amounts or keep within responsible and prudent amounts as compared to those levels suggested by Head Office.
- Keep totally up to date on all Competitors’ ads and sales strategies. Regularly shop the competition.
- Able to generate sales using effective selling techniques, suggesting accessories, services, “add-ons” and effective merchandising to create extra sales opportunities.

Employees will be scheduled 40 hours per week and must be available to work a flexible schedule, Monday through Sunday, for day and evening shifts. From time to time, this position requires the successful candidate to transfer from one store to another, or to work in other locations depending on organizational need and career development opportunities. Mode of transportation will be the responsibility of the employee.
