This position demands a high degree of organization and attention to detail as it involves multiple tight deadlines. In addition, it is important to protect and maintain confidentiality of all financial and operational information.
- Liaise with accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring timely and accurate recording and reporting of transactions.
- Perform month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing activities including reconciliations, journal entry postings, accruals leading to preparation of financial statements.
- Reconcile and post monthly statements for multiple properties from the property manager.
- Prepare and file monthly GST returns for multiple entities.
- Provide variance analysis for the operating and capital expenditure.
- Manage and reconcile intercompany interest and transactions ensuring timely and accurate recording and reporting.
- Prepare working papers, reconciliations, and schedules for year-end audits ensuring deliverables are completed in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure proper accounting treatment and reporting of transactions including review of outstanding related party balances.
- Continuously review and improve accounting processes and procedures to ensure compliance with ASPE/IFRS and company policies.
- Provide guidance and training to junior accounting staff as needed.
- Assist with other entities within the group as needed.
- Provide support for any ad-hoc projects as requested by management.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance.
- CPA designation or in final stages of completion
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting in a large organization, including managing accounts payable and receivable, preparing financial statements, and preparing working papers, reconciliations, and schedules for year-end audits.
- Strong understanding of ASPE/IFRS and financial reporting requirements.
- Experience with investment and intercompany transactions, loan amortization, and month-end closing procedures.
- Proficiency in Excel and accounting software (PeopleSoft, D365, Yardi).
