Corporate Nurse – Injection Certified (BC) One year contract with a possibility of extension.
This position is responsible for supporting the safe administration of vaccines and drugs for injection (primarily influenza and COVID-19) to eligible patients.

Responsibilities include:
- Deliver medication by injection as per standards of practice and guidelines for a variety of patient scenarios.
- Exercise professional judgment to provide the patients with safe and effective health care services.
- Work with the pharmacy manager to manage vaccine and injection supply inventory.
- Comply with all regulatory, department, and company policies and procedures.
- Keep up to date on current eligibility criteria for government influenza and COVID-19 vaccines
- Review drug monographs for all vaccines or medications that are to be administered.
- Provide patients with all vaccination records and/or reports required.
- Accurately enter all pertinent information into the pharmacy computer files and/or IMMSBC provincial vaccination record system.
- Potential opportunity to provide other healthcare services, such as Point-Of-Care-Testing for health screening (with additional training provided)
The successful candidate should possess the following:
- Trained and comfortable in administration of injectable vaccines and medication to patients ages 4 years and older
- Willing to receive training and administer intranasal influenza vaccine nasal spray to patients ages 2 years and older if not already experienced.
- Trained how to respond to an emergency anaphylactic reaction including administration of epinephrine by injection.
- Demonstrate good interpersonal skills when dealing with customers, staff & management.
- Highly organized and able to multitask effectively and work under changing priorities.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal, within a team environment.
- Sound judgment and ability to effectively problem solve, as required.
- Able to work both independently and within the pharmacy team.
- Dependability.
EDUCATION & KNOWLEDGE:
- Completion of post-secondary requirements to be a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Registered Nurse (RN), or Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN).
- Active registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives.
- Hold active Standard First Aid CPR Level C with AED certification.
- Injection Certified.
- Completion of BCCDC Immunization Competency Courses.
- Preference to applicants with IMMSBC experience including COVID-19 and/or flu vaccines. Others may be considered.
- Good working knowledge of computers.
Hours vary, up to 40 hours per week. Clinic days may be scheduled any time the pharmacy is open, Monday through Sunday. Must be able to work a flexible schedule depending on the needs of the pharmacy. This is a one year contract with a possibility of extension. The flu and COVID-19 clinics are typically October to January, with possibility of other booster programs during the year depending on recommendations of the BCCDC and the BC Minister of Health.
