Our New Compounding Facility in South Calgary, AB currently has opportunities for:
Department Manager, Pharmacy, Compounding Services
The Pharmacy Department Manager will assume full control and accountability for the operation of the pharmacy department and the success of the pharmacy business.  Responsibilities will include meeting financial benchmarks and operating efficiencies, maintain high standards of pharmacy practice, excellent customer/ patient relations and provide strong, professional and strategic leadership to the pharmacy team.
  • Monitor, control and forecast financials including sales, payroll, inventory, prescription count and margin for maximum profitability.
  • Utilize relevant information and reports to ensure schedules are set for maximum service levels and to meet benchmarks.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of all pharmacy and store assets.
  • Follow best practices for maintaining an optimal ordering system.
  • Ensure pharmacy is compliant with the Standards of Practice and the Code of Ethics set by the College.
  • Ensure pharmacy follows all regulatory/ legislative requirements impacting the pharmacy and the overall industry.
  • Ensure patient privacy and confidentiality in accordance with all privacy laws.
  • Keep up to date on all Company policies and procedures and the Pharmacy Standards of Excellence.
  • Identify business trends in the market and respond in an appropriate and timely manner.
  • Monitor and control the financial aspect of all store areas to ensure maximum profitability.
  • Set production/sales goals for the team, both management and staff, and hold them accountable to maximize sales events and productivity.
  • Provide assistance, answer questions and/or problem solve any issues with customers.
  • Look for opportunities to grow the pharmacy business and promote London Drugs within the community.
  • Ensure there is compliance and timely execution on all corporate programs and pharmacy initiatives.
The successful candidate should possess the following:
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills.
  • Sound judgment and ability to effectively problem solve as required.
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure.
  • Highly organized and able to multitask effectively and work under changing priorities.
  • Minimum Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy with 2 years of community pharmacy experience.
  • Valid Registered Pharmacist license and in good standing with the provincial College.
  • Strong working knowledge of all aspects of the pharmacy business.
  • Thorough knowledge of pharmacy policies, regulations, scopes of practices and systems.
  • Thorough knowledge of current National Association of Pharmacy Regulatory Authorities (NAPRA) and College guidelines and/or standards for pharmacy compounding
  • Strong knowledge of compounding techniques
  • Competencies and previous working experience in a compounding pharmacy an asset
  • Good working knowledge of the pharmacy prescription and services reimbursement model at the provincial level for all payors.
  • Good understanding of the pharmacy operational software and support systems.
  • Knowledge of desktop PCs and Windows-based operating systems.
